The 1977 Topps Star Wars Series 2 collection of trading cards represents a product launched by Topps during the year 1977.
This set drew its content from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, showcasing scenes captured directly from the movie, promotional shots, and glimpses from the production process, all framed by a red edge. The reverse sides of the cards presented either "Actor's Profile" or "Movie Facts" content, or offered a segment of a bigger picture designed to connect with other cards, forming a composite image. A collection of sticker cards was also part of the overall set.
The card sequence within this set was a continuation from where the earlier series concluded. Subsequently, three additional series were produced.
Certain cards incorporate visual elements originating from segments of the film that were cut: Card 74 presents a still from the sequence featuring Luke Skywalker alongside Biggs Darklighter located on Tatooine, Card 85 comes from the scene that was removed showing Luke fixing a moisture vaporator, Card 101 exhibits Chewbacca taken from the cut, but later re-integrated, scene involving Jabba the Hutt situated in Docking Bay 94. Card 132 utilizes a shot extracted from a deleted scene showcasing Darth Vader together with Moradmin Bast.
Mirroring the preceding series of cards, the term "light sabres" is used instead of "lightsabers."
