31174 existed as a turbolift within a tower found on the Providence-class Dreadnought called Invisible Hand, a vessel of the Separatist faction.
Description
This particular turbolift was spacious, possessing a grey interior capable of comfortably accommodating more than ten individuals. The interior was illuminated by ten lights: three on each wall that wasn't a door, and a larger light fixture on the ceiling. Identical ceiling lights were also present on the top and bottom exterior of the lift.
Of the five elevators sharing a single shaft, 31174 occupied the central position. It was secured within the shaft by a pair of rails running along its left and right sides.
History
During the events of the Battle of Coruscant, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker made use of this elevator in their mission to rescue Chancellor Sheev Palpatine. En route to the tower's summit, the lift experienced an unexpected power failure. Obi-Wan used his comlink to request assistance from R2-D2 in resolving the issue; however, Anakin, growing impatient, opted to cut an opening in the elevator's roof. Meanwhile, R2-D2 successfully restored power, initially sending the elevator downwards, which forced Anakin to grasp onto an edge. Subsequently, R2-D2 corrected the direction to upwards following Kenobi's urgent plea. Two security battle droids confronted Anakin, holding him at blasterpoint, but the Jedi was able to leap onto 31174 as it ascended, resulting in the destruction of the droids. The elevator was ultimately destroyed when the Invisible Hand was split in two above the planet Coruscant.
