Biography
Serving within the Droid Army of Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray, 3B3-888 was a B1-series battle droid. Nute Gunray used his forces to blockade the planet Naboo in 32 BBY, as a demonstration against the Galactic Senate's recently enacted taxation of trade routes. Soon after, Gunray's troops invaded and occupied Naboo. 3B3-888 was a member of the force stationed on the planet, under the command of OOM-9.
A substantial force of native Gungans gathered at the Great Grass Plains, led by Bombad General Jar Jar Binks and General Tobler Ceel, in response to the occupation. To confront the Gungans, OOM-9 dispatched a large army of droids, including 3B3-888, resulting in the Battle of the Great Grass Plains. The Gungans were ultimately defeated, and as they retreated, 3B3-888, with the assistance of other B1 droids, captured both Binks and Captain Roos Tarpals. However, the destruction of the Droid Control Ship orbiting Naboo, which controlled all battle droids on the planet's surface, led to the immediate deactivation of 3B3-888 and the rest of the Federation forces. Queen Padmé Amidala, the leader of Naboo, later captured Gunray and regained control of the planet.
Characteristics
Standing at 1.91 meters in height, 3B3-888, like all B1 battle droids, featured white plating and black photoreceptors. During combat against the Gungans, 3B3-888 utilized an E-5 blaster rifle. Furthermore, the droid demonstrated the ability to capture retreating enemies, a skill it employed during the Battle of the Great Grass Plains.
