5YQ-series protocol droid

The 5YQ-series protocol droid represents a line of protocol droids manufactured by Cybot Galactica. This series was a brief attempt to expand upon the accomplishments of the company's well-regarded 3PO-series.

Characteristics

In terms of visual design, the 5YQ protocol droid shared significant similarities with the 3PO-series, notably its humanoid structure measuring 1.7 meters. Due to the utilization of identical parts, Cybot Galactica faced legal action, which resulted in the discontinuation of the product line. Consequently, only a limited number of 5YQ units remained available for purchase.

History

These droids, characterized by their pewter coloring, were created to challenge Serv-O-Droid, Inc.'s Orbot in the market, and were marketed at budget-friendly prices within the Mid Rim region.

Notably, one of the most well-known 5YQ droids was I-5YQ, who was given the moniker "I-Five" by his owner, Lorn Pavan. Pavan extensively altered and enhanced his droid, to the point where I-Five retained only a superficial resemblance to its original, factory-produced form.
