Asp droids, officially designated as ASP-series labor droids, were versatile labor droids produced by Industrial Automaton and could be encountered across the galaxy.
ASPs were uncomplicated droids, designed solely for labor and little else. Their communication was limited to "Yes/Affirmative" and "No/Negative". Over two dozen different versions of Asp droids existed, with the ASP-7 labor droid being the most prevalent model, measuring 1.6 meters in height. Due to its affordability, this particular droid was frequently the initial droid purchase for individuals, a practice promoted by Industrial Automaton with the expectation that customers would subsequently acquire R-series Astromechs and SE4 servant droids.
Due to their restricted responses of affirmative and negative, attempting to extract information from these droids was known to be a frustrating exercise likened to a game of "guess my secret."
The Prefect of Mos Eisley maintained a substantial contingent of ASP-7 units throughout the settlement, including ASP-704.
A more sophisticated variant, the ASP-19 battle droid, was utilized by Darth Vader to refine his lightsaber combat abilities.
