Menir came to Batuu to live a quiet life. He eventually married a local woman named Elise and was enjoying a good life. But things soured when Elise invited Iren, a stranger visiting the village, into their house to stay the night. Menir grew furious and hurled the traveler out of the house. Iren's sole possession, a pouch with a few seeds, was left behind in the struggle. Menir, after mocking what little the traveler had, tossed the seeds outside. The seeds eventually grew into monstrous creatures known as Drengir, which destroyed both Menir's home, killing Elise.
