Aggie Guerard Rodgers


Aggie Guerard Rodgers was a costume designer for and an artist who provided work for Star Wars Galaxy Magazine.

Biography


Having graduated Cal State Long Beach in 1970 with a Master's degree in theatre costume design, Aggie Rodgers had no experience in film costuming when she was hired as the costume designer for George Lucas's groundbreaking film, American Graffiti. During her interview with production manager, James Hogan, and Director George Lucas, it was discovered that she graduated high school the same year, and only 20 miles away from where Lucas himself graduated. Due to her understanding of the script and the vision Lucas had for the film, she got the job. She was again hired by Lucas as a costume designer for his third Star Wars film. She was awarded the Saturn Award by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films for her work on .

Rodgers has worked with a wide range of directors including Francis Ford Copolla, Ron Howard, Tim Burton and Steven Spielberg. Her talent has been seen in well known films such as Invasion of the Body Snatchers, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Cocoon and The Color Purple, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award.

Rodgers has lived in the San Francisco Bay area for most of her adult life. She is married to Peter Laxton and has two sons, James and Thomas.
