The Alaris Expanse was first mentioned in the introductory description of the Attichitcuk campaign in the 2001 LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, and was also shown in the introduction to the campaign's first level, "Moving and Attacking."
The campaign description labeled the Expanse as a group of planets in the Outer Rim Territories. The game's databank, however, placed Alaris Prime in the Kashyyyk system, which the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed within the Mid Rim.
