Alater-ka

Alater-ka was the only permanent underground city and spaceport on the planet. It was built by Shaka-ka in honor of Imperial Captain Osted Alater, who exposed the deception of Planetary Safaris Inc., which had been hunting native Barabels. It was, at times, used to facilitate Imperial operations on Barab I, and help ensure the protection of the natives. During negotiations by the New Republic to gain access to the starport facilities, the Barabel ambassador was knocked unconscious by the over-zealous Noghri bodyguard Ahk'laht.

Alater-ka and the surrounding area was destroyed by the Yuuzhan Vong during the Yuuzhan Vong War.
