Arnod served the Galactic Empire's Navy as a TIE pilot during the Galactic Civil War fought between the Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. By 3 ABY, Arnod was attached to the Imperial Death Squadron, and led a flight consisting of at least three other TIE/LN starfighter pilots.
In 3 ABY, the Empire participated in a victory against the Alliance at the Battle of Hoth, where the Alliance was forced to evacuate their headquarters on the planet Hoth. Arnod's flight of TIE/LN starfighters accompanied the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Avenger in pursuing the Alliance's YT-1300 light freighter Millennium Falcon through the Hoth system following the freighter's escape from Hoth.
In their pursuit of the Falcon, Arnod's flight followed the freighter as it went into the Hoth asteroid field in an attempt to elude the TIE/LN starfighters. Arnod and the other TIE pilots were killed when their starfighters all struck asteroids during the pursuit.
Arnod's starfighter was created for 1980's original trilogy film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, released May 21 of that year. Prior to the film, the starfighter first appeared simultaneously in The Empire Strikes Back Storybook and the film's novelization, both released April 12 of the same year. In 1990, the pilot's name was first identified in "Dark Voyage to Tatooine," a story published in West End Games' sourcebook Galaxy Guide 5: Return of the Jedi written by Michael Stern.
