Artillery battalion

Organization

An artillery battalion was comprised of three artillery batteries, an assault company, the and the necessary vehicles required to transport the artillery. The assault company provided security for the battalion, allowing them to retreat and relocate if necessary. An artillery battalion numbered 810 men, and was equipped with either 48 artillery pieces of the medium or heavy variety, or 96 light artillery emplacements.

Artillery battalions could be augmented by the addition of three more artillery batteries, and an assault company.
