Shortly after the First Battle of Geonosis, a pair of Confederate gunships ambushed a Galactic Republic troop transport, causing it to crash and killing or injuring the majority of the clone troopers on board. The Separatist battle droids pursued the downed craft and began killing off the wounded troopers, leading one of the survivors, Cut Lawquane, to flee from the battlefield and abandon his military service in the Grand Army of the Republic.
