An ax or axe was a melee weapon that consisted of a heavy edged head fixed to a handle. Some axes had two blades. Although regular axes were intimidating weapons in themselves, their lethality and cutting ability could be increased by the addition of a vibration generator, which produced a variant known as a vibro-ax.
During the time of the First Order, stormtroopers who were assigned the duty of serving as executioner troopers used the BL-155 Laser ax for capital punishment via beheading.
