Bab-Prime was the precursor to modern-day droidspeak created around 200 BBY. It was invented by Yperio Baobab, and it allowed for the transfer of a multitude of information between droids and computers.
Soon after its creation, Bab-Prime was changed significantly by a cybersociologist working for the Baobab Merchant Fleet. By attempting to create a Human-based personality algorithm, the hapless worker instead created a backbone-entangled computer virus. The resulting infection nearly crippled the droid population, with many droids taking on limited personalities and emotions. This tendency resulted in the frequent memory wipes periodically given to droids.
Bab-Prime eventually evolved into Bab-Neo, or "Babno".
