Shortly after the Rebel Alliance fleet scattered in the aftermath of the Battle of Hoth, Commander Ellian Zahra of the Galactic Empire initiated a battle with the rebel Eighth Division, situated near Malastare. Having discovered the locations of both the Eighth and Fourth Divisions using a custom signal analysis protocol, Zahra led her own attack on the Fourth Division. The rebel fleet near Malastare was trapped by an interdictor vessel, and the Eighth Division was completely destroyed.
