This battle occurred on the planet Giju during the Clone Wars. Separatist forces invaded the planet and a regiment of clone troopers led by the Jedi Knight Sha Koon were sent to take back the planet. The regiment was intended to act as the core of a locally-raised militia to help retake the planet.
Sha Koon's Padawan Baylis Archan, as well as Sha Koon's entire command, were lost during the battle. An embittered Sha Koon considered the battle entirely unnecessary. However, the Republic forces were victorious in the end, and the battle was considered a prime example of the "militia model" of deploying small units of clone troopers to support larger planetary uprisings.
