Blaster rack

Blaster racks were small, wall mounted holsters meant to hold blasters and other weapons for easy access. They were commonly used by the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War.

Description

Several different models of blaster racks existed. One such model consisted of several holsters that attached to a slanted portion of a wall, with a long bar on the floor, meant to vertically hold a weapon in place at an angle, with its base touching the floor. Another model consisted of simple hooks on a wall that a weapon could be placed onto, also vertically, though without the slanted angle and lifted entirely off the ground. Both models could hold various armament, such as blaster rifles and thermal detonators.

Blaster racks were commonly used by the Galactic Empire within various Imperial facilities, such as the Death Stars and garrison bases. They were placed in key locations in order to equip soldiers with weapons if necessary. On the first Death Star, Docking Bay 327's control room contained a slanted blaster rack, capable of holding four weapons. It was destroyed during the Battle of Yavin when the Rebel Alliance managed to make the battlestation explode in 0 BBY. The station's successor, the Death Star II, also contained a blaster rack, located in its command center, though this rack was of the non-slanted model and was able to hold at least two blasters. It held two A280 blaster rifles and was destroyed as well, when the second Death Star exploded at the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY.
