Bolus nuts were a type of nut that were sticky, crunchy, and sweet. During the Reflection Day festival in Jedha City on the moon Jedha, they were sold as portable snacks on wooden sticks from food stalls that were set up throughout the city on Reflection Eve. Bolus nuts were available during the Reflection Day festivities in the year that the traveler Zallo Blaak visited Jedha City, at some point prior to the city's destruction in 0 BBY.
After publishing his first cookbook in 34 ABY, the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs included a recipe for bolus nuts in his second cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook. Tuggs described the nuts as the most delightful of the foods available on Jedha during Reflection Day but stated that he preferred to serve them in a bowl than on sticks.
Bolus nuts first appeared in "Reflection Day," a short story published on September 7, 2021 in the Life Day Treasury, a collection of short stories written by George Mann and Cavan Scott. The recipe book Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook, authored by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak and published on November 9 of that same year, provided an out-of-universe recipe for the nuts. The ingredients are an egg white, almonds, vanilla extract, packed light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt.
