Circular saw

A circular saw or buzz saw was a cutting tool that consisted of a rotating circular piece of metal with sharp blades protruding from its circumference. Many different types of droids were produced with buzz saws, including astromech droids and toy droids.

In 230 BBY, the Nihil pirate organization used a large modified buzz saw to attack Jedi Masters Yoda and Kantam Sy during the Battle of the Corellian Shipyards. During the Clone Wars, Pistoeka sabotage droids were armed with circular saws, enabling them to cut through the hulls of starships during combat. In 9 BBY, L0-LA59 used her saw to cut through the ropes tying Leia Organa when she was kidnapped. Similarly in 4 ABY, R2-D2 used his circular saw to free himself and his friends from an Ewok trap during their mission to Endor.
