CBS (officially CBS Broadcasting, Inc. formerly the Columbia Broadcasting System) is one of the main television networks in the United States.
In Star Wars history, it is notable as the network which broadcast The Star Wars Holiday Special in its first and only appearance on American television on November 17th, 1978. CBS also aired the Star Wars specials SPFX: The Empire Strikes Back in 1980, and Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi in 1983. Also, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope made its network television debut on CBS on February 26, 1984.
During the 1980s, a number of Star Wars home video releases were made under the label of CBS/Fox Video, a joint venture of CBS and 20th Century Fox.
