CX-1, also known as Sniper CloneX, was a Clone X trooper in service to the Galactic Empire during the early Imperial Era. In 18 BBY, after failing to assassinate Senator Avi Singh, CX-1 was captured by the Clone Underground. As the Underground members had prevented CX-1 from committing suicide, another clone assassin, CX-2, was deployed to their base on Teth to terminate CX-1. As a result of the assassin's mission, CX-1 was successfully killed.
Originally a clone trooper, CX-1 was at some point detained by the Galactic Empire and thrust into the experimental Clone X trooper division of Doctor Royce Hemlock's deep undercover program. In the process, his mind was wiped and he was conditioned to become a fanatically loyal clone assassin. By 18 BBY, he was activated and deployed to the planet of Pantora in order to assassinate former Separatist senator Avi Singh, who was meeting with Imperial senator Riyo Chuchi to discuss a potential rebellion against the Empire. The two senators were protected by a contingent of rogue clones from Rex's Clone Underground network. CX-1 stealthily infiltrated the Pantoran tea parlor where the two senators were meeting, and swiftly strangled a rogue clone guarding the kitchen before setting up his rifle and taking aim at Singh. At the last moment, the assassin was compromised by by Rex, and threw a thermal detonator into the room to cover his retreat. He eventually climbed a maintenance tower, where he was stunned unconscious by the rogue clone Howzer.
CX-1 was brought back to the Clone Underground's base on the planet Teth, where his suicide shocker was removed to prevent him from biting down on it. Howzer and Rex would then attempt to interrogate CX-1 as he woke up, but the assassin would not speak. Upon decrypting a data puck recovered from CX-1's gear, the rogue clones learned that the young female clone Omega was on the assassin's target list, and called Clone Force 99 to inform them of their discovery. Upon the arrival of the rogue commandos, CX-1 took notice of Crosshair, who had previously been enrolled in the Clone X trooper division but had failed to meet requirements due to his defective nature. CX-1 then slyly suggested that Crosshair be interrogated for answers, and affirmed that the Empire would be coming for the Clone Underground. As the rogue clones attempted to leave the room, CX-1 was killed by a sudden blaster shot and slumped over. CX-2, another clone assassin dispatched to eliminate CX-1 for failing his mission, had infiltrated the facility and taken the shot.
As a genetic clone of the legendary bounty hunter Jango Fett, CX-1 shared his genetic template's basic physiological characteristics, and as such was a human male that stood at 1.83 meters tall with tan-colored skin, black hair, and brown eyes.
As a clone assassin, CX-1 was conditioned to be fanatically loyal to the Galactic Empire. Upon being captured, he refused to reveal any information about his mission and remained silent despite Rex's insistence that he could be helped. Upon recognizing Crosshair, he slyly suggested that the rogue sharpshooter be interrogated and laughed at the thought of the Empire rooting out and eliminating the Clone Underground.
As a clone assassin, CX-1 was equipped with specialized black armor. He was armed with a 773 Firepuncher sniper rifle and a suicide shocker implanted into his teeth, though this was later removed by the Clone Underground to prevent CX-1 from committing suicide. CX-1 carried a backpack with magnetic thermal detonators and a datapuck.
CX-1 was first shown in the January 22, 2024 trailer for The Bad Batch Season 3, being named in the subtitles.
