This broad category can encompass characters displaying one or more of the following characteristics: their gender identity existed outside the traditional binary understanding of gender, their gender identity differed from the gender they were assigned at birth, they felt attraction to beings of the same gender as themselves or to multiple genders, and/or they were living beings who did not experience sexual attraction or have interest in sex with other beings.
