The cloaking cruisers were used as early as the Outbound Flight Project in 27 BBY. The assault cruiser was used in the Chiss attack on the Vagaari Empire.
During the Clone Wars, 60 Chiss assault cruisers surrounded the remainder of Skakoan Umbrag's Separatist fleet near a Chiss Space station.
Cruisers of this type were later used in the Swarm War. During the Battle of Snevu, a Chiss assault cruiser entered the planet's atmosphere in an attempt to destroy the parasite bomb that lay buried in the sand.
Chiss assault cruisers first appeared in the 2005 novel Dark Nest III: The Swarm War by Troy Denning. They later appeared as "Chiss attack cruisers" in Timothy Zahn's 2006 novel Outbound Flight.
