In 1977, the same year as A New Hope, Muncke appeared in The Spy Who Loved Me alongside fellow Star Wars actors Anthony Forrest, Shane Rimmer and Garrick Hagon. He also featured in a revival of the musical Pal Joey which starred Denis Lawson. Other famous roles include General Kenneth Nichols in the 1980 miniseries Oppenheimer (again alongside Hagon, as well as John Morton) and in a 1989 adaptation of Around the World in 80 Days with his frequent collaborator Peter Ustinov and Christopher Lee.
Muncke retired from acting in 1990, transitioning to a career as a schoolteacher. In an interview, he said that his only contact in the film industry after his retirement was "when I am fortunate enough to be invited to events where I can meet and chat with Fans whether they are part of what I like to call our Star Wars Fan Family."
Muncke passed away on April 6, 2022 at the age of 79.
