The Cliff Dweller was a fruity, non-alcoholic beverage originating from the planet Ahch-To. Variants of the beverage could be either pink-hued or deep orange-colored, topped with a garnish, or served in mugs resembling the porg species. In 34 ABY, a recipe for Cliff Dwellers was included in the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs's cookbook, The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, and the drink was also served in Oga's Cantina on the planet Batuu.
The Cliff Dweller was a frothy, fruity, non-alcoholic beverage that could be consumed by humans and Artiodacs. One version of the drink was pink-hued and originated from the Unknown Regions planet Ahch-To, incorporating several ingredients—including a garnish—that could be found within the world's archipelagos. Another variant of the drink was deep orange-colored and could be served in mugs.
In 34 ABY, Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs published his first cookbook, The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, and included a recipe for a pink-hued version of the Cliff Dweller. He felt the beverage had "tropical flair" and indicated that the refreshment was one unique way to incorporate readily available local ingredients. According to Tuggs, even beings dwelling in the cliffs of the remote planet of Ahch-To needed to know a drink recipe in case they ever had unexpected company, and the Cliff Dweller was a good option.
Deep orange-colored Cliff Dwellers were served at the Oga's Cantina establishment in the Black Spire Outpost settlement on the Outer Rim planet Batuu the same year. The cantina offered the drink in glasses or in mugs carved to look like porgs, a species of birds native to Ahch-To. During that time, the historian Eloc Throno included Cliff Dweller in a listing of the cantina's offerings in his book Traveler's Guide to Batuu. Around then, Tuggs also included his cookbook's Cliff Dweller recipe in a small pamphlet of recipes meant to help a Batuu visitor learn more about the planet.
The Cliff Dweller first appeared as a beverage sold to guests at the Oga's Cantina bar in the themed land Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge upon its debut in Disneyland Park on May 31, 2019. The drink was first revealed in a D23 article on February 27 of the same year. The menu's description of the beverage reads, "Citrus Juices, Coconut, Hibiscus-Grenadine, and Seagram's® Ginger Ale served in a souvenir porg mug."
An out-of-universe recipe for the drink is included in the recipe book Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, which was written by Marc Sumerak and Chelsea Monroe-Cassel and released on November 5, 2019. The ingredients orange juice, pineapple juice, lime juice, grenadine, and coconut cream are shaken in a cocktail shaker, then poured over chipped ice and topped with ginger ale. The official Disney Parks Blog posted a similar recipe that uses the same ingredients as the cookbook but in different ratios, and it specifies hibiscus grenadine like the theme park version. According to the post, the measurements were converted from the restaurant's large batch recipe.
