In 43.5 ABY, several Nightsisters utilized this power while the Raining Leaves Clan and the Broken Columns Clan met in an attempt to unify the Clans. The Nightsisters were opposed to the all-male Broken Columns Clan joining with the Dathomiri Witches of the Raining Leaves Clan, so they used the control web to cause sparkflies to attack the gathered Clans. Later they used a control web on 30 rancors and had them attack, however, Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker, who was present during the conclave, was able to trace strands of the web back to individual Nightsisters, whom he was then able to kill.
Some of the Nightsisters were captured by the Lost Tribe of Sith and were forced to teach them this technique. It was later employed during the fight against Abeloth by them. Luke noted that although it was rougher than when the Nightsisters used it, the sheer numbers of the Sith made it efficient in weakening Abeloth.
