A crystallist was a title given to an individual with knowledge of crystals and lightsaber technology. Var-Whill was a noted crystallist of the Jedi Order prior to the Galactic Civil War. In the aftermath of the Corsair Wars, Var-Whill was recruited by Jedi Master Oo'ob to create the Farkiller, a modified sniper rifle using lightsaber technology. As a result, both Oo'ob and Var-Whill were pronounced apostate and killed within a decade of the Farkiller's creation.
