The Hutts held the star Cyax in high esteem, though they never explored the system it was located in. Despite this, they spread many legends of a planet covered with an intelligent, living ocean that was warmed by Cyax's rays. Da Soocha's name translated from Huttese as literally "Waking Planet".
During the Galactic War, the slaves on Da Soocha were planning a slave rebellion.
Jabba the Hutt had the coordinates for the world in his palace, and they were stolen by R2-D2. At the time of the Battle of Endor, the Rebel Alliance explored the Cyax system and were rather surprised to find the Hutt legend to be partially truthful: it was indeed a large, ocean-covered planet. In honor of the Hutt legend, the planet was dubbed Da Soocha.
During the Reborn Emperor Palpatine's campaign from 10 ABY to 11 ABY, the planet was colonized by Mon Calamari refugees fleeing from the World Devastator attack on their homeworld of Dac. The New Republic also established a base on its uncharted moon, Da Soocha V, though they were forced to evacuate after Palpatine used the Galaxy Gun to destroy the moon.
In 137 ABY, the First Sith Imperial Strikeforce under Moff Yage and the two Sith Darth Azard and Vul Isen unleashed a deadly toxin into oceans of Da Soocha, killing all life in the ocean world in a similar way as with Dac. The Sith intended to punish the Hutt Azzim Anjiliac Atirue for harboring Mon Calamari refugees escaping the Sith's genocide at the Hutt Temple spa Maya Armus on the moon Napdu.
They then obliterated the Temple and killed all the survivors who attempted to escape. However, the Azzim's Twi'lek servant Xanif managed to transmit a recording of the Sith's actions to his uncle Vedo Anjiliac Atirue on the Hutt capital Nal Hutta. Despite an Imperial victory, this action outraged the Hutts who subsequently contacted Cade Skywalker, a former Jedi and perennial foe of Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire.
In Dark Empire 2, Da Soocha is erroneously referred to as Gla Soocha. However, the PC game Star Wars: Rebellion offers "Gla Soocha" as a common alternative name for the planet.
Rebellion mistakenly places Da Soocha in the Abrion sector.
Additionally, Rebellion's in-game encyclopedia entry for Da Soocha claims the Mon Calamari had been using the planet as an evacuation site even before the Battle of Yavin, and that the Pinnacle Moon was suspected of housing a Rebel outpost some ten years before the moon was charted. This is contradictory to its appearance in the Star Wars: Dark Empire series.
