'Dee-Twelve was a droid owned by the family of Jerlyn, a resident of Peka village on the world Batuu. Around 379 BBY, while working on the family's farm at night, Dee-Twelve was taken by a salmaca that was raiding Peka and brought to its nest. The next day, Jedi Padawan Rooper Nitani arrived in Peka, and after speaking with Jerlyn, agreed to recover Dee-Twelve. After traveling to the salmaca's cave, she successfully rescued Dee-Twelve and returned him to Jerlyn.
Dee-Twelve was a droid owned by the family of Jerlyn, a resident of Peka village on the world Batuu. One night, around 379 BBY, Jerlyn forgot to lock up his family's farm while Dee-Twelve was plowing a field, which allowed a salmaca that was raiding Peka to take Dee-Twelve and bring him to to its nest.
The next day, Jedi Padawan Rooper Nitani arrived in Peka during her Jedi Trials, and spoke with Jerlyn, who told her about the salmaca that had been raiding Peka and how it had taken Dee-Twelve. Jerlyn blamed himself for allowing Dee-Twelve to be taken, and was upset both because his family could not afford a replacement droid to perform the important work Dee-Twelve did on the farm, and because he considered Dee-Twelve to be part of his family. After hearing this, Nitani agreed to recover Dee-Twelve from the salmaca's cave, and Jerlyn provided her with a description of the droid.
After entering the cave and locating the salmaca's nest, Nitani found Dee-Twelve, who was underneath the sleeping salmaca's paw and buried in a pile of electrical components. She used the Force to influence the salmaca into rolling over, and then nudged him free. After setting him down, a series of diodes on Dee-Twelve's casing winked in an elaborate pattern, which Nitani interpreted as either excitement or thanks. Nitani then had P3-7A, a church droid accompanying her, guide Dee-Twelve out of the cave while she looked for a shield belonging to her Master, which she had been tasked with finding in order to complete her Jedi Trials. After Nitani found the shield and exited the cave, she found the two droids with Jerlyn, who thanked her for finding Dee-Twelve.
Dee-Twelve was gold and black, and about the same size and shape as the GT model droids used by Pathfinder teams, but slightly more battered. It had modifications to help it interact with farming equipment.
Dee-Twelve appeared in the short story "Shield of the Jedi," written by George Mann and published in the 2023 young-adult anthology The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.
