During the Clone Wars, Delta Squad consisted of a team of four clone commandos—Unit leader Clone Sergeant Boss, second-in-command Fixer, Sev, and Scorch—who served in the Grand Army of the Republic. At one point, Delta Squad was deployed from a LAAT/i gunship into a battle zone in order to take control of territory. In the aftermath of the massacre on the planet Devaron, Delta Squad recovered the bodies of Jedi General Halsey and his Padawan, Knox and brought them back to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, the capital world of the Galactic Republic.
Boss reported directly to several members of the Jedi High Council—Obi-Wan Kenobi, Plo Koon, Adi Gallia, and Saesee Tiin—and informed them that the entire military force on Devaron had perished along with Halsey and his apprentice, leading the Council to suspect the emergence of a new threat to the Jedi Order. Their suspicion was confirmed upon recovering security footage of the battle; a hologram of Halsey's death revealed his killer to be a Nightbrother of Dathomir, whom the Jedi would come to know as Savage Opress.
Following the end of the Clone Wars and the Republic's transformation into the Galactic Empire, Scorch was one of many clone commandos who were tasked with training the new soldiers of the Imperial Army. He was also eventually assigned to the Advanced Science Division with the military rank of Clone Commander. In time, the new troops—recruited stormtroopers—replaced the clone troopers.
Delta Squad first appeared in the 2005 Star Wars Legends video game Star Wars: Republic Commando. During development of "Witches of the Mist," a season-three episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, supervising director Dave Filoni requested that the creative team incorporate Delta Squad into the plot. All four commandos' names (but not their identification numbers) were brought into canon in the episode guide for "Witches of the Mist."
Within Republic Commando, the game's final mission concerns a mission to Kashyyyk, during which Delta Squad rescues the Wookiee Chieftain Tarfful. Within canon, there is a documented rescue of Chieftain Tarfful from Trandoshans, with Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary, New Edition establishing that a group of clone commandos carried out the rescue. Although this matches the depiction of the Legends rescue, no canon source has confirmed if the commando unit dispatched in canon was Delta Squad.
