The Diplomatic Escort Group, also referred to as Senate Security or simply the diplomatic service, represented a specialized division within the Coruscant Guard. This clone trooper branch was tasked with the crucial mission of providing protection to diplomats traveling to various planets throughout the galaxy during the tumultuous period of the Clone Wars.
During the Clone Wars, a squad of clone troopers, under the command of Clone Commander Stone and accompanied by Senator Kharrus, undertook a mission to deliver a spice ransom. This ransom was intended for a band of pirates operating from Florrum, who had taken Confederate Head of State Count Dooku hostage. As the Nu-class attack shuttle carrying the spice and the escort group entered the Florrum system, it was ambushed by a Flarestar-class Weequay ship under the control of the pirate Barb Mentir, who served as its pilot. The enemy ship successfully shot down the clone shuttle, causing it to crash in the Doshar fields of Florrum. The crash resulted in the deaths of both the shuttle's clone pilots and Senator Kharrus, elevating Associate Planetary Representative Jar Jar Binks to the position of the highest-ranking individual present.
Following the burial of Kharrus and an impromptu memorial service, the pirate Turk Falso and a squad of pirates riding Starhawk speeder bikes launched a surprise attack on the clones, seizing the spice ransom. However, Binks and the clones eventually utilized skalder mounts to recover the stolen ransom. Subsequently, the pirates employed WLO-5 speeder tanks in an attempt to eliminate the clones, but the Republic forces successfully repelled the attack, commandeering the tanks and using them to reach the pirate outpost. The Escort Group then arrived at the facility and departed Florrum, accompanied by Skywalker and Kenobi, who had managed to escape a brief period of captivity under the pirates' control.
