Director of Imperial Intelligence, also known as the Internal Security Director, was a title held by the leader of Imperial Intelligence of the Galactic Empire's . The position was considered a successor to that of Director of the Senate Bureau of Intelligence, for when Palpatine established the Galactic Empire three years after the First Battle of Geonosis, the bureau became Imperial Intelligence. Under the Empire, this post—considered a part and in command of the Ubiqtorate—was the highest level of command within Imperial Intelligence, one of much power and prestige.
The post is known to have been held by only two persons: Armand Isard, who was appointed to his position under the Galactic Republic by then-Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, and his daughter Ysanne Isard, who had Armand Isard executed and was then appointed in his place by Emperor Palpatine. This post would eventually come to command the whole of the Empire after the death of Palpatine and his Grand Vizier Sate Pestage, though the position was never meant for such authority.
At some point, the Emperor's Hand Cronal would lead the Intelligence Agency, though at some point would step down from the the position. When he held the position is difficult to determine.
