The E-5 blaster rifle was a bulky blaster rifle manufactured by Baktoid Armor Workshop. It was reverse-engineered from a BlasTech design of the E-series. The E-5 visually resembled a blaster rifle nicknamed "Beti" from the High Republic Era.
The E-5 was created and adapted from the BlasTech design to be used by B1-series battle droids. Bounty hunter C-21 Highsinger wielded an E-5 while attacking fellow hunters Jango Fett and Aurra Sing. It was also used by BX-series droid commandos. It was used throughout the Clone Wars, making it the most common weapon of the Separatists. The blaster generated excessive heat, which was caused by its rapid-fire mode, making it uncomfortable for organics to use but more than adequate for a battle droid.
Following the Clone Wars, a police droid model that resembled the BX-series commando droid also used the E-5. These police droids wielded E-5s while patrolling a decommissioning facility in Coronet City on the world of Corellia. Additionally, many E-5s and their B1 owners were set to be melted down in the facility, although a number of the droids were reactivated during an infiltration. Many reactivated B1s again wielded E-5 blaster rifles, using them to fire upon the police droids.
NED-B used a modified E-5 against stormtroopers during the Imperial attack on Jabiim. Baze Malbus wielded a personally modified E-5 blaster identified as an E-5 carbine during his opposition to the Galactic Empire's occupation of Jedha. He repeatedly needed to fix the blaster until it finally was too broken for further use, which his friend Chirrut Îmwe considered a shame. Malbus soon replaced the E-5 with a repeating cannon. The HK-87 assassin droids working under Morgan Elsbeth used these rifles. One was taken by Sabine Wren when these droids broke in to steal the star map. During the Cold War, the Warbird gang continued to use these blaster rifles.
Star Wars: Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide mistakenly refers to the E-5 as a blaster pistol.
