Following the formation of the Galactic Empire, the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious retreated to his holding office to receive a report from Darth Vader on Mustafar. Sidious was confronted in his office by Grand Master Yoda, who knocked the Emperor's guards out before challenging the Dark Lord himself. The epic lightsaber duel that followed progressed into the Chancellor's Podium, which rose up into the Senate Chamber. The fight ended in the main chamber when Yoda was beaten and sent falling to the floor.
Following the Declaration of a New Order, Sidious moved his office to a new throne room in the EmPal SuRecon.
During the Yuuzhan Vong War, Yuuzhan Vong Intendant Nom Anor used the chamber to house his secret escape craft.
As with all of the Supreme Chancellor's residences, this chamber saw itself redecorated with each election. A circular chamber with a single door, the center of the chamber was dominated by the Chancellor's Podium. At the start of Senate sessions, the ceiling of the office would iris open, and the Podium, containing the Chancellor and his aides, rose up into the center of the Senate Chamber. The floor was polished, with carpeting in certain areas.
During the chancellery of Finis Valorum, the office was bathed in rich oils, and the walls covered in paintings. The wide floor area was dotted with furniture and statues collected over a long history of Chancellors. Finis Valorum used this chamber as his principal office during his tenure as Supreme Chancellor prior to the Battle of Naboo.
When Valorum was ousted and Palpatine voted as successor, the holding office was a minimal affair with a simple desk to the right. On it, there was a lamp resembling the Senate Building itself, while lush chairs could be brought before the desk to accommodate guests. Against the wall opposite the door, two floor-to-ceiling columns rose, projecting between them a view of Galactic City as seen from the apex of the building.
