Garrum was an apprentice of Jedi Master Tar'eelok. When Revan arrived at the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine in 3956 BBY, he had yet to learn the tenets of the Jedi Code and the use of the lightsaber. His Master limited his combat training to cortosis blades as long as Garrum would not show proper respect for the weapon.
