During the Old Republic era, Gilatter VIII had been a favorite vacation spot, though the novelty wore off and the last resort closed a century before the Galactic Civil War.
In 40 ABY, it was the site of a secret meeting of the Confederation which was itself a trap. The trap was somewhat successful, as it brought Jacen Solo onboard who intended to capture or kill all onboard.
Mines were placed to be used by the Confederation to use against the Galactic Alliance fleet. Jacen warned the fleet and the Battle of Gilatter VIII ensued.
Outside, both fleets fought, while inside, Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker dueled Dark Lady of the Sith Lumiya to a draw. Leia Organa Solo and Alema Rar also fought to a draw.
