Carano played the role of Dune for two seasons of The Mandalorian. She participated in The Mandalorian Panel during Star Wars Celebration Chicago and announced her character as Cara Dune, a former Rebel Alliance Shock trooper. Carano first appeared as Dune in "Chapter 4: Sanctuary," which depicted Dune meeting Din Djarin while hiding out on Sorgan, and she made her final appearance as Dune in the second season finale, "Chapter 16: The Rescue."
On February 10, 2021, Lucasfilm issued a statement via multiple media outlets regarding Carano's employment with them. They announced, along with denouncing Carano's recent social media posts, they did not currently employ Carano and did not have plans to do so in the future. On February 6, 2024, Carano filed a lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm, citing discrimination and wrongful termination.
