Near the time of the Galactic War between the Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire, the Chevin Conglomerate orchestrated a scavenger hunt, the Grand Acquisition Race, to retrieve various items of seemingly great value, while hiding their true intentions to the galaxy. To advertise the event, the Conglomerate waited for news broadcast from the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire about the Grand Acquisition Race, and managed to hack the transmission to directly address the galaxy, and potential participants, promising opportunities for personal enrichment to anyone who would care to work for them, calling upon them to reach them out on Nar Shaddaa.
The true goal of the Conglomerate was in fact to appeal to the returning Gree fleet, a species that had disappeared from the known galaxy several millennia ago. Agents from both the Empire and the Republic, including agent Reeho from the SIS, managed to pierce through the smokescreen surrounding the event, and learn of the true intentions of the Chevin.
The Grand Acquisitions Race first appeared as a World Event in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, as a lead-up to the Return of the Gree World Event.
