The maze had several entrances and many dead ends, but those who found their way to the middle were rewarded by the sight of a small oasis, with four palm-like trees and park benches surrounding a clear-water pool. A mysterious gardener maintained the oasis.
The Great Maze was also an obstacle which racers had to drive through in order to complete the Lok Marathon.

After the Battle of Yavin, the Great Maze of Lok became the scene of fighting between Imperial and Rebel operatives. In 1 ABY, a spacer managed to reach the center of the Labyrinth and collected a knuckler left behind. Around the same time, a member of Nym's Revenants, Rei Reeven, got injured in the maze. Ralia Reeven, Nym's quartermaster, dispatched a spacer to deliver medical supplies to rescue him.
