Deep within a grotto, far below Haven Base on Arbra, R2-D2, C-3PO, together with Chewbacca, made a discovery: the Grotto City. C-3PO, recognizing the grandeur of the city, determined that its architecture originated during the era of Xim the Despot. This city had been the long-deserted home of the ancient Arbran people. These Arbrans had, in the distant past, left their world, but not before they had purged themselves of all their negative emotions, which then coalesced into a dark side entity known as the Darker. Because they considered the Darker as their own creation, the Arbrans declined to destroy it, opting instead to leave it within the Grotto City, contained by a force field that sustained itself. Inside this city, C-3PO came across a library filled with very old books that contained a variety of information from cooking to history; he noted that the script was similar to the ancient language of the Sith. Ultimately, Chewbacca, aided by some Hoojibs, forced the Darker into the force field, triggering the destruction of the Darker, the field itself, and the complete annihilation of the Grotto City.
