Prior to the Battle of Yavin, Luke Skywalker confronts Han Solo about him leaving now that he has gotten his reward. Solo confirms he is leaving. Skywalker tells Solo that the Rebellion could use a good pilot like him. Solo asks what good a reward is if you are not around to use it. Skywalker tells him to take care of himself because "that is what [he is] best at." Solo frowns.
Later, aboard the Millennium Falcon, Chewbacca growls. Han asks what he is looking at. Solo insists that he knows what he is doing. The narrator explains that in a "galaxy of adventures," a true hero returns to help his friends. Han has a change of heart and flies back to Yavin and joins in the rebel assault on the Death Star.
Solo flies the Falcon through the Meridian trench and attacks the three TIE fighters pursuing Luke's X-wing. He destroys the TIEs escorting Darth Vader, forcing Lord Vader to retreat in his TIE Advanced x1 fighter. Over the headset, Solo tells Luke he is all clear and to blow this thing and go home.
Luke fires two proton torpedoes into the Death Star's thermal exhaust port, blowing it up. Luke flies beside the Falcon, smiling at Han and Chewie. They leave behind the blazing wreckage of the Death Star.
