The Hangar Bay was a massive hangar located in the middle levels of Mount Tantiss on the planet Wayland.
The hangar was destroyed in an attack on Mount Tantiss by the New Republic and Smugglers' Alliance in 9 ABY. Several standard days after the destruction of the mountain, the xenoarchaeologist Garv Debble and his assistant Milanda Vorgan of the New Republic Xenoarchaeology Division undertook an archaeological expedition known as the Mount Tantiss dig. The New Republic search teams discovered a collection of vintage spacecraft and ground vehicles dating to the Pre-Republic era in the interior hangar bay, including an Alderaanian sleeper pod, a chemically-driven cryofreeze unit and one of the earliest known interstellar vessels, and AB-1 "floatcoach" landspeeder prototype. The New Republic historian Voren Na'al later mentioned the hangar in his journal.
The hangar was located in the middle levels of Mount Tantiss on the planet Wayland. It contained the complete complement of vehicles and ships that the Mount Tantiss garrison commanded. TIE fighters were stored on roof racks and maneuvered by into adjacent to the traditional hangar bay. Assault shuttles, troop transports, Skipray blastboats and other support craft had a conventional hangar. The main hangar area acted as both the maintenance bay and garage: all repairs were performed on a vessel while it was still in the hangar.
