The OG-9 homing spider droid, also known as the spider walker or the Separatist spider droid, was a droid walker designed for anti-vehicle warfare. It was manufactured by the Commerce Guild in the time leading up to and during the Clone Wars.

Similar to the Republic's Self-Propelled Heavy Artillery walkers, the OG-9 was effective against both ground and air targets, built to carry a powerful weapon across the battlefield. The spider droid's round, armored chassis housed an unstable reactor. A breach of this core would trigger a catastrophic explosion.
The homing spider utilized its four all-terrain legs to traverse vast areas of the battlefield. Its considerable height and extendable hydraulics allowed it to position its homing laser to fire over allied droids at enemy targets or ascend to higher elevations to engage aerial vehicles. However, the legs were a weak point; disabling a single hydraulic leg would cause the entire vehicle to collapse. This vulnerability was exacerbated by the vehicle's slow speed. Despite these weaknesses, the homing spider could navigate the seabed completely submerged and scale steep cliffs.
The primary weapon of the spider walker was a laser emplacement situated on top of its spherical body. This circular array discharged a precise homing laser, capable of sustained fire until the droid's internal power was depleted. This consistent firepower made the homing spider capable of weakening shields, obliterating armored vehicles, and cutting down enemy formations.
For close-quarters engagements, an antipersonnel cannon was located beneath the walker's main body. Additionally, a retractable ion cannon could be installed to disable starships or other heavily armored targets. Weapon mounts also allowed for the attachment of other armaments. The homing spider's sensor suite enabled it to identify and track moving enemy units.
Homing spider droids were identified solely by numerical codes and lacked individual personalities or long-term memory. Instead, they were equipped with an internal logic processor and military protocols for extended missions, often receiving direct commands from a Central Control Computer.

Baktoid Armor Workshop developed the homing spider droid before the Trade Federation dissolved the company shortly after the Invasion of Naboo. In its final days, Baktoid attempted to sell off its designs, and the Commerce Guild acquired several droid models, including the spider walker.
Like other combat automatons used by the Commerce Guild, the homing spider droids were initially intended to enforce the Guild's regulations, ensure customer debt repayment, and safeguard Guild assets.
The homing spider droid made its debut during the Battle of Geonosis while serving the Confederacy of Independent Systems, where droids like unit 81 fought against the Grand Army of the Republic. In that conflict, they defended Trade Federation Lucrehulk-class core ships and decimated enemy All Terrain Tactical Enforcer units, although LAAT/i strikes subdued them.
Following Geonosis, homing spider droids became a common component of Confederate forces. They saw significant use during the Dark Reaper crisis early in the war, often falling victim to Jedi-piloted TX-130 Saber-class fighter tanks. A number of these droids participated in the defense of the Commerce Guild world of Felucia, with many destroyed units remaining there as late as 2 BBY.
After Darth Sidious's new apprentice, Darth Vader, executed the Separatist Council, all Confederate droid units were deactivated.
