Herglic, alternatively known as Herglese, served as the language spoken by the Herglics originating from the world of Giju. It was common for Herglics to also acquire proficiency in Basic. Herglese had a written component, which shared the same name.
Herglic mercantile activities in the Tapani sector led to the assimilation of several Herglic terms into the regional lexicon.
- chakk - An inexperienced individual. Originates from the term for a young Herglic still nursing.
- hauum - The noise made by a Herglic expelling air from its blowhole. Precedes an important statement.
- pakk - A settlement (originally a pod community) or a planet.
- pison - A robber/oppressor, or a Galactic Empire administrator (during the Rebellion).
- pison-pakk - Coruscant, or any major Imperial administrative center (during the Rebellion).
- shen - A pod's matriarch, or a starship that has safely carried a traveler through space.
- shan - A pod's maternal aunt, or a starship that has not been traveled in.
- shan-pakk - A spaceport.
- shep - A companion (originally a podmate) or a wingman/sister vessel.
- shep-pakk - The planet of origin.
- umron - A fool unaware of their own lack of intelligence.
