Homing Beacon was a complimentary electronic newsletter from StarWars.com that was distributed to subscribers every two weeks via email. It acted as a companion piece, enriching the main website's offerings. Around the tail end of 2007, the publishing frequency was altered from biweekly to a weekly schedule. The inaugural issue was made available on January 27, 2000, and the newsletter ran for a total of 358 editions, concluding with the final issue on March 19, 2011. Although initial releases contained exclusive background details, subsequent editions (following issue #239) transitioned into a primarily promotional medium, devoid of original source articles.
