An Honorary Elder was the title conveyed onto a Ewok by another tribe. The title signified that the bearer was loyal to the other tribe and identified the individual to be trustworthy by those who bestowed the title.
Such titles were only rarely given, most often to those Ewoks who lost their tribe either through natural disasters, predators or other fates. These Ewoks having no home would, at times, make a new home among the new tribe by such an action.
