Hutlar was a terrestrial world located in the Hutlar system of the Senex sector, a part of the Senex-Juvex region in the Western Reaches portion of the Mid Rim. The Senex-Juvex Loop hyperlane linked it to the Karfeddion and Nepoy systems. Hutlar was a small, dim, and chilly world that occupied a close orbit around a red dwarf star.
When the warlord Osted Picutorion initiated the Crimson Days, a period of unrest in the Senex-Juvex in 553 BBY, one of the terms of the peace settlement was that the Hutlarians, the natives of Hutlar, be liberated from their servitude to the region's lords. As a result, the Hutlar system became the only one in the region not to be under the control of the aristocratic Ancient Houses. Their newfound freedom meant little for the Hutlarians themselves, however, and they continued to serve the nobles in various functions.
Hutlar was home to the sentient Hutlarians. Hutlar's natives served the Ancient Houses of the Senex-Juvex as workers, bodyguards, and shock troops.
Hutlar was first mentioned in "The Hunt Within: Valance's Tale: Part 2," a Wizards.com roleplaying article containing "Mission 2: Destroying the Past," a scenario for use with the Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Miniatures game. The article was authored by Jason Fry and published on December 9, 2004. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the world in grid square L-17.
