"Hyperdrive" was a song popular on the Kashyyyk holo-market during the Galactic Civil War. At around the same time, "Light the Sky on Fire," a song performed by a band of Human musicians, was also a hit on Kashyyyk.
"Hyperdrive" is the title of a 1974 song by Jefferson Starship, the band who appeared as holographic musicians performing "Light the Sky on Fire" in 1978's The Star Wars Holiday Special. "Hyperdrive" was originally featured on their 1974 album, Dragon Fly.
Two releases of the "Light the Sky on Fire" single included "Hyperdrive" as a B-side, one of which was a Holiday Special tie-in. Both "Light the Sky on Fire" and "Hyperdrive" also appear on Jefferson Starship's 1979 greatest hits compilation, Gold.
"Hyperdrive" was mentioned alongside "Light the Sky on Fire" in Ed Erdelac's Star Wars Blog article Slugthrowers: An Overview of Popular Music and Musicians in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, Part 2, though it was not confirmed to be identical to the real-world song or performed by the same group as "Light the Sky on Fire".
