In around 20 BBY, Suum worked for the SoroSuub Corporation as a droid programmer, and he was based in a SoroSuub office in the city Gadrin. During the time of the Clone Wars, he developed the MMR-9 recovery droid, which SoroSuub planned to use to recover materials from the abandoned city Nub Saar, on the planet Genarius. However, the SoroSuub office was raided by members of the Fireclaw Horde, a Togorian criminal gang that sought to develop modified versions of the MMR-9 to use to hijack starships. Suum was taking an unauthorized lunch break when the Togorians launched their attack and when he returned to the office, he witnessed their raid and fled before the Togorians could capture him. The Togorians subsequently attempted to kidnap Suum.
A short time later, Suum operated the controls of SoroSuub's entrant in the Cularin Classic swoop race, an automated XB-01 Speeder Bike.
