This individual who lived during the Imperial era served in the Imperial Navy as a TIE pilot during the Galactic Civil War and was considered an ace starfighter pilot by 3 ABY.
In 3 ABY, the Galactic Empire discovered that the Alliance to Restore the Republic had established an outpost on the planet Mygeeto, an Outer Rim world with an almost entirely crystalline crust which had previously served as an Imperial currency reserve. In order to regain control of Mygeeto, the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader led a Star Destroyer fleet on an invasion of the planet. To ensure that the operation went smoothly, Vader transferred elite pilots from throughout the Empire to his flagship, the Super Star Destroyer Executor, including the Imperial Ace.
When the fleet reached Mygeeto, Admiral Firmus Piett, commander of the Executor, ordered the Imperial Ace's squadron to conduct a reconnaissance mission in orbit of the planet. The Ace's scouting mission soon ran into Rebel starfighters but the Imperials' TIE/LN starfighters proved a match for the Rebel A-wings and X-wings. After eliminating the opposition, the Imperials returned to the Executor where analysis of the Ace's reconnaissance data revealed to Admiral Piett that the Rebels were aware of the Imperial fleet's presence.
Piett expected the Rebel fleet to mount a counterattack and, upon discovery of Rebel scouts in the nearby Mygeeto asteroid field, dispatched the Ace to prevent them from learning more of the Imperial strength. Maneuvering through the asteroid field in a TIE/IN interceptor, the Ace prevented the escape of numerous X-wings and Y-wings carrying information on the Imperial fleet before returning to the Executor.
As expected, the Rebel fleet soon arrived and engaged the Imperial forces, causing Piett to order the Ace to join in the defense of the armada. Flying a TIE/D Defender, the Ace played a vital role in the battle, fighting through the numerous fighters and using his concussion missiles to assist in the destruction of several enemy CR90 corvettes, EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigates and GR-75 medium transports. The Ace's performance in the battle led Piett to personally recommend him to Darth Vader.
Imperial ground forces had were preparing to land on the planet's surface and the Dark Lord of the Sith gave the Ace a special assignment to provide aerial support for the operation. In a TIE/sa bomber, the Ace negotiated the planet's canyons and engaged enemy ground forces, including T-47 airspeeders, before making proton bomb runs on the Rebel's spaceport and ion cannons. The Ace's success left Vader confident that the Rebels would soon surrender.
While Vader personally commanded the All Terrain Scout Transport attack on the Rebel headquarters, he supplied the Ace with his personal TIE Advanced x1 for another special mission—to destroy the Rebel base's main power generator before the ground forces moved in. Returning to the surface, the Ace fought through enemy Y-wings and used his concussion missiles to eliminate the power generator. With the generator destroyed, the Imperial ground forces quickly overwhelmed the remaining Rebel forces.
After the battle, the Ace was highly decorated for his role in the Imperial victory. Darth Vader also sensed that the pilot demonstrated some potential with the dark side of the Force. The Dark Lord of the Sith continued to follow his career closely.
The Imperial Ace was created as the player character for the 2006 mobile phone video game Star Wars: Imperial Ace, which was developed by Fishlabs Entertainment GmbH and released in Europe. The Ace only appears in the flight suit of a TIE pilot and, as such, the character's appearance is unknown. The character's name is also not identified in the game. Though the Ace's pronouns are not specified in the game, promotional material states "As a TIE fighter ace pilot the player receives his orders from Admiral Piett and Darth Vader himself."
